The smoke curls into the sky. All day and all night, I see the flames. No one will save us. We will be stronger, smarter, braver— we will do whatever it takes to stay out of the fire. We are walking out of this camp, alive and together, hand in hand-- I promise I will never let go.
2.
Ninety percent of humanity will starve from stupidity. Everything will end in catastrophe, the gifted drowned by the idiotic. Without intervention, evolution will repeat itself: like the dinosaurs before us, greatness will bow down to the mud-scrabbling masses of lizard mediocrity.

EVA Have you seen a girl who looks just like me? Her name is Miriam Mozes. Please, do you know where she is? Miriam! Miriam! Miriam! Miriam! EVA (spoken) Sorry! MIRIAM Eva? EVA sung Miriam? MIRIAM! EVA I’ve been looking, looking, looking! I thought I would never see you again. MIRIAM I thought I would never see you again! What happened? EVA I survived. But no more of that-- I am so glad I found you. It feels like a miracle, like Hanukkah! EVA Look! Someone gave this to me. We should share it. MIRIAM Chocolate? It truly is Hanukkah! EVA breaks the piece in two and the girls savor its sweetness together. MIRIAM I was so afraid that you would never come back. EVA I do not know what will happen next, but, from now on, always hold my hand. Never let go. EVA We are free. No more shots! MIRIAM No more experiments! EVA No more Mengele! MIRIAM We can do what we want. EVA We can do what we want. MIRIAM Whatever we want. EVA I want to never let you go. MIRIAM We never need to be separate again. We can do what we want. What is it? EVA I want to go home. MIRIAM Let’s go home. EVA & MIRIAM Let’s go home. We will never be separate again.

I, Eva Mozes Kor, a twin who as a child survived Josef Mengele’s experiments at Auschwitz fifty years ago, hereby give amnesty to all Nazis who participated directly or indirectly in the murder of my family and millions of others. I extend this amnesty to all governments who protected Nazi criminals for fifty years, then covered up their acts, and covered up their cover up. Fifty years after liberation from Auschwitz, I Eva Mozes Kor, in my name only, give this amnesty because it is time to go on; it is time to heal our souls; it is time to forgive, but never forget; it is time to open up all the classified and personal files not only for the sake of history, but to alleviate human suffering. I, as a Citizen of the Free World, declare here in Auschwitz, that I have the human right to locate my Auschwitz files so I know what germs and chemicals were injected into my body fifty years ago. I expect the leaders of the free world to put politics aside and, for the sake of all humanity, assist us in getting our files. Help us make it possible for ever Mengele Guinea Pig, for every survivor to find their files, their stories, their past. I, the only living member of a very large family, in their name and mine appeal to the U.S. Congress, to the Israeli Knesset, the German legislators, and others who have the power, to pass laws dismantling all Nazi-related investigative units, such as the U.S. Justice Department Office of Special Investigations, and open up all Nazi files to survivors and the public. Look up to the skies, here in Auschwitz. The souls of millions of victims are with us – and I am saying, with them as witnesses: “Enough is Enough. Fifty Years is More Than Enough.” I am healed inside, therefore it gives me no joy to see any Nazi criminal in jail, nor do I want to see any harm come to Josef Mengele, the Mengele Family, or their business corporations. I urge all former Nazis to come forward and testify to the crimes they have committed without any fear of further persecution. Here in Auschwitz, I hope in some small way to send the world, a message of forgiveness, a message of peace, a message of hope, a message of healing. NO MORE WARS, NO MORE EXPERIMENTS WIHTOUT INFORMED CONSENT, NO MORE GASS CHAMBERS, NO MORE BOMBS, NO MORE HATRED, NO MORE KILLING, NO MORE AUSCHWITZES. (signed) Eva Mozes Kor

about

A miniature of key dramatic moments from the Holocaust remembrance opera Eva and the Angel of Death (by Thomas B. Yee and Aiden K. Feltkamp) which portrays the true story of Eva Mozes Kor, a child survivor of the Holocaust and Josef Mengele’s medical experiments. Fifty years after her liberation, Kor returned to Auschwitz to announce her message of forgiveness, peace, hope, and healing. The EP features musical portraits of Eva Mozes Kor (played by Page Stephens), Dr. Josef Mengele (Jawan Cliff-Morris), and Eva’s liberation from Auschwitz with her twin sister Miriam (Julia Snyder Taylor); after an interlude for reflecting upon the topic of forgiveness, the EP concludes with real-world archival audio of Eva Mozes Kor delivering her Declaration of Amnesty at Auschwitz on the Fiftieth Anniversary of her liberation — a message of peace, hope and healing.
